Upper Dolpo Trek

18 Night 19 Days

Upper Dolpo called  Dolpa as well. One of the curious trekking destinations of Nepal for its versatile culture & Nature. Dolpa seems to be far from the current world, But visitors can experience the differences of Nepal’s rugged and remote far west. By area, it is the largest district of Nepal, and less populated. It contains the deepest lake Shey-Phoksundo which is deepest lake of high altitude in the world. The villages, Gompas and people you meet during this trek will leave an unforgettable impression on you.  It is a magical place situated at the base of Crystal Mountain. Dolpa is one of the few districts in Nepal, that is behind the Himalayan Mountain,  where it gets very little rain.

The Upper Dolpo Trek to Shey Gompa brings you a mystical land where centuries old Buddhist and Bonpo traditions, interwoven with shamanistic influences, are still an important part of daily life. Some of the attractions of this route are Dho Tarap, a human settlement at the highest altitude in the world, Shey Gompa. Religiously Shey Gompa is the most important Gompa in Nepal. Upper Dolpo is one of the few remaining sources of Yarsa Gumpa, an exotic half plant half animal that is considered a powerful aphrodisiac. After September, it starts snowing heavily, and trekking is possible only with heavy duty equipment.
