Everest Region is the most popular trekking region in Nepal, probably due to the location of the tallest mountain in the world, Mt. Everest, along with other high mountains like Nuptse and Lhotse. Summiting the height of Everest or even till the base of Everest has been a challenge to trekkers. The high mountains have made the region develop into a tourist destination, especially for trekkers. The Everest region has decent lodges with modern facilities aimed to make the trekker’s journey safer and more comfortable. There are lodges at about an hour walking distance throughout the trail. However, due to its popularity and well-developed facilities, the region has more visitors. Trekking in isolation seems impossible in this region.
Lukla is the starting point of the Everest region. It can be reached with a short flight from Kathmandu to Lukla airport perched at the mountain cliff. The trail starts through the ancient routes that are paved with stones. As the height ascends, the trail is more beaten and rocky. The villages and yaks all use the same track for traveling. There are also other animals occasionally visiting near the routes. The trails lead through old and remote villages. There are small houses, prayer whets, chotens, and monasteries through the trails. There are also high mountain passes, pristine white rivers, and fabulous mountain scenes.
Namche Bazaar is the main hub of the Everest region. There are guest houses, lodges with free wifi, and every trekking gear and equipment required for the journey ahead. It is located inside the boundary of the Sagarmatha National Park and it is also known as the gateway to Everest. Everest Trekking from Namche onwards gives astonishing views of the high mountain peaks and wonderful surroundings. There are multiple trekking routes from Namche Bazaar to trek around the Everest region.
Among many trek routes, the most popular one is the Everest Base Camp (EBC) trek. The trek rewards with the grand view of Everest (8848m), Lhotse (8414m) and Ama Dablam (6856m) along with the extensive range of Himalayas of Khumbu region. The EBC trek also presents a special option to hike the marvelous Kalapatthar(5550m) that has a grand view of the Everest. There is also an ancient mysterious monastery located on the mountaintop, Tengboche Monastery (12,887 ft).
Everest Three Pass is another trek route in Everest region that passes through wonderful high passes Renjo La (5360m), Cho La (5420m) and Kongma La (5535m). The trail not only crosses high passes but also goes through remarkable places of Everest region such as the Gokyo lakes and valleys and the Everest Base Camp. This trek demands more determination and endurance as well as physical strength and can extend up to a couple of weeks.
